It's official! Isha-Anand Dec 12 wedding to be private affair at Ambani residence

Isha Ambani's wedding to Anand Piramal will be a private affair, to be attended by family members and close friends, at the Ambani residence in Mumbai on December 12.

A statement from the Ambanis confirmed that the rituals will "be performed in accordance with Indian traditions, customs and culture."

It also said that both the business families - the Ambanis and the Piramals go back a long way - will host friends and family in Udaipur in the weekend leading up to the wedding.


"During the weekend prior to the wedding, the Ambani and Piramal families will host their friends and family in Udaipur, where they are partnering with artisans and craftsmens to integrate local culture and traditions into the festivities," it read.

The statement, jointly signed off by the Ambanis and Piramals, sought blessings and good wishes for the new couple.

On Monday, the Ambanis had visited Mumbai's famous Siddhivinayak temple, and offered prayers and the wedding card.

Earlier in September, the two business families - who go back a long way - celebrated the couple's formal engagement in Lake Como where Isha and Anand exchanged rings. The event was attended by B-town celebrities.


Ajay Piramal's son, Anand, had proposed to Ambani at a temple in Mahabaleshwar earlier this year. The first of the couple's pre-wedding functions took place in May, when the Ambanis hosted a 'Ghor Dana' ceremony for the couple at their residence Antilia.


Both Ivy League alumni, Isha and Anand are part of their family businesses. Isha, who completed her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Stanford Business School in June this year, is on the boards of Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail. After completing his MBA from Harvard Business School, Piramal launched a healthcare startup in rural Rajasthan, eSwasthya, which later merged with his family business to become Piramal Swasthya, a private primary healthcare initiative. In 2012, he went on to his second venture, Piramal Realty, a real estate startup that came out of a business school summer study.
