Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Syed Akbaruddin, India's permanent representative at the United Nations Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Harsha Bhogle, a well-known cricket commentator belong to the same school- Hyderabad Public School.

Powerful corporate honchos have passed out from Hyderabad Public School including Ajay Banga, Mastercard President and CEO, Prem Watsa, founder and CEO of Fairfax Financial Holding and Shantanu Narayan, Adobe Systems CEO and Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO.

Syed Akbaruddin, the distinguished alumni of Hyderabad Public School is leading India's charge on Kashmir at the United Nations. HPS said it was proud to recognize man of the moment. He passed out from HPS in the year1976. Syed is the 1985-batch IFS officer and handled many key diplomatic assignments including the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Alumni of Hyderabad Public School have reached heights of success and fame in various fields including business, politics, civil services, sports and films. Karan Billimoria, Cobra beer founder and a member of UK Parliament, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Asaduddin Owaisi, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP, Venkatpathy Raju, former cricketer and Akkineni Nagarjuna and Rana Daggubati, Telugu actors are also among the alumni of HPS.

Marri Aditya Reddy, HPS managing committee said that the school is proud of its alumni excelling in various fields. He praises Syed Akbaruddin for his way of defending India at the United Nations. HPS helped its pupils coming from modest background to become leaders in different fields with its strong eco-system. Aditya Reddy, also an HPS alumni said that ordinary people were able to excel in personal and professional capacities due to the value system created in the HPS atmosphere.

Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of Hyderabad State founded Hyderabad Public School in the year 1923 with inspiration from famous Eton College of Britain. The school was exclusively meant for the sons of the nobility. HPS opened its doors for public in 1951.

The school had the elitest tag even after Independence as children of only powerful politicians, wealthy businessmen, IAS/ IPS officers and celebrities used to get admission. HPS started admitting girls in 1984

HPS started with six students in 1923 and currently has about 3,000 students. A society comprising eminent people from all walks of life run the school. The management committee includes seven members while 35-member board looks after day to day affairs of the institution. Aditya Reddy said that school shed the tag of elitist school long ago and it gives admission to SCs, STs, BCs and minorities as per the government policy. The school is maintaining the social and economic balance.
